A Rare Moment of Agreement in a Divided America
- Finding a topic that Americans across the political spectrum agree on is increasingly rare. Occam has shown how topics dominating recent news cycles, such as tariffs and DOGE, are highly politicized (see here and here).
- Amid the polarization, Occam has identified striking consensus regarding which entitlement program is most in need of fixing. Americans, regardless of political affiliation, overwhelmingly agree that Social Security is the most in need of reform, followed by Medicare. This is particularly significant given that a majority of respondents aged 65+—who benefit most directly from these programs—share this view (not shown). Their responses highlight structural challenges that even beneficiaries acknowledge.
