Pocketbook Worries Still Lead as Top Issue, but AI Is Climbing Fastest
'AI has rocketed up the issue list. The share of Americans naming AI as the most important issue facing the U.S. rose 1,300% since late March, from 0.2% to 2.8%.
'The climb has been steady. AI's share has grown almost every week since early May, with the sharpest gains coming in July and August.
'Pocketbook issues still dominate. Inflation (27.1%) and Jobs and the economy (24.3%) are still the top two issues by a wide margin. Together they're named by more than half of Americans (51.4%), and both have grown since March, up 40% and 12%.
'Other issues have faded. Immigration (−34%), Healthcare (−26%), Crime (−27%) and Foreign policy (−35%) all dropped sharply as economic concerns and AI took a larger share of attention.
